Potato and carrot soup for babies.

Potato and carrot soup is healthy, testy and weight gaining food for babies. Potato is good source of carbohydrates and vitamins and carrot is good source of vitamin A and K. Potato and carrot are root vegetables, carrot is usually orange in colour and sweet in taste. Both vegetables are very healthy for babies. Potatoes are good for weight gain so you can give your toddler. It can given in cough & cold when baby doesn’t want to eat solid food, it’s soothing you baby’s sore throat. If your baby is below one year then don’t add salt in this soup. Let’s see how to prepare this soup –
Ingredient –
1. One small carrot
2. One medium size potato
3. Butter/ ghee
4. Pinch of salt
5. Water
Method –
1. first peel the skin of potato and carrot. Then clean it with water properly and cut it into pieces.
2. Take a pressure cooker add one large cup of water add slice’s of potato and carrot, boil it till one whistle comes.
3. Take out all vegetables from cooker and blend it in blender, Take a pan heat it.
4. Add some butter in it and pour puree in pan, add water to get little thin consistency.
5. Add little salt in it, stir it 1 minute and switch off the flame.

Why we shouldn’t give cow milk before one year..

As we all know that breast milk is very important for new born. It has all nutrition which a new born requires. If mother is not able to feed breast milk due to some reasons then replace it with formulas but don’t use cow milk.

There are many reason why we shouldn’t use cow milk before one year –

1. Cow milk contains high protein and mineral, which can effect a newborn immature kidney.

2. Cow milk lacks proper amount of iron, vitamin C, and other nutrients which newborn needs.

3. Infant can’t digest cow milk easily.

लौकी का लाजवाब हलवा..

बचपन में जब भी मां लौकी की सब्जी बनाती तो मेरा छोटा भाई बिलकुल नहीं खाता था, उसे सिर्फ आलू की सब्जी ही पसंद थी। जबकि मुझे हरी सब्जियां बहुत पसंद थी। मां ने पड़ोस में रहने वाली रमा आंटी से इस बारे में चर्चा की तो आंटी ने मुस्करा कर कहा कि बीना इस समस्या का समाधान मेरे पास हैं । मम्मी ने खुश होते हुए कहा प्लीज़ रमा जी मुझे बताइए, इस पर आंटी ने कहा की मोटी फीस लगेगी। मां समझ गई की आंटी कुछ खाने की फरमाइश करने वाली हैं।मां ने कहा बोलिये क्या खाएंगी, तो रमा आंटी ने कहा चाय और पकौड़े।

मां ने कहा बिलकुल मिलेगी पहले आप रेसिपी बताइए, तो रमा आंटी ने कहा की मैं लौकी के हलवे की बात कर रही हूं जिसे आप गेट – टूगेदर और डेजर्ट के लिए भी बना सकती हैं। जैसा की हम सभी जानते हैं की बच्चों को हरी सब्जी खिलाना टेढ़ी खीर है, तो देर किस बात की आइये बनाते हैं लौकी का टेस्टी हलवा रेसिपी –

घीया/लौकी का हलवा –

समाग्री

1.एक लौकी मध्यम आकार

2. दूध 1 कप

3. इलाइची पाउडर

4. चीनी 2 कप

5. मावा 250 ग्राम

6. घी एक कप

हलवा बनाने की विधि –

एक मध्यम आकार की लौकी लें उसे छिल कर पानी से साफ कर लें। अब लौकी को चारों तरफ से कद्दूकस कर लें, और बीज वाला हिस्सा अलग रख दें। फिर उसे कुकर में डाल कर एक कप दूध में दो सीटी आने तक पका ले। जब लौकी अच्छी तरह से पक जाए तो उसे आंच से उतार लें फिर एक कढ़ाई ले उसमें लौकी ( जो की दूध के साथ होगी) डाल दें और चलाते हुए उसे गाढ़ा करे, जब लौकी का मिक्सचर गाढ़ा हो जाए तो उसमें आधा कप घी डालकर एक मिनट भूनें। इसके बाद उसमें चीनी डाल दे और चलाते रहे अब इसमें भुना हुआ मावा एक कप डाल दें साथ में सूखे मेवे और इलाइची पाउडर डालकर पाॅच मिनट तक चलाते हुए पकाएं, अब आंच बंद कर दें और बारीक कटे हुए काजू, बादाम और पिस्ता से गार्निश करें।

टिप्स –

1. लौकी को लागातार चलाते हुए भूनें नहीं तो हलवा कढाई के तले में लग जाएगी।

2. There are all the nutrients in mother’s milk, which are very essential for the development of the child.

3. By breastfeeding, the mother’s weight also reduces and gradually she comes back to the old shape.

4. Breastfeeding creates an emotional connection between mother and child.

5. We can not give any medicines to the newborn, the treatment of every disease is only breastmilk, especially when child’s nose is closed then the only treatment is mother’s milk.

6. Breastfeeding reduces the risk of breast cancer and ovarian cancer.

7. Breastfeeding helps shrink the uterus of the mother and then go back to the state before the pregnancy.

8. Breastfeeding keeps the mother away from menstruation for a few months. that is, they do not have menstruation for two to four months.

9. Breastfeeding means that the mother’s milk is compatible with the child’s digestive system, it is easily digested.

10. Breastfeeding reduces diseases related to heart and bones.

How to take care of dry skin in babies.

Newborn skin is very delicate and soft. Each baby has different type of skin. Some have normal, some have oily, some have dry or sensitive skin. It’s little difficult to take care of dry or sensitive skin. Let’s see how to take care of dry skin in babies.

what is dry skin?

Dry skin looks flaky, rough patches on your child’s skin. Dry skin is not itchy, if dry skin becomes itchy or red then eczema has developed in the skin.

What makes your child’s skin dry?

There are many reason behind it –

1. Bathing too often and using regular or hard soap.

2. Weather can also effect your child’s skin. Low humidity might make skin dry.

3. Hard water, salt water and chlorine water.

How to take care –Use warm water for bath, instead of 15 minutes bath cut bathing time down to about 5 minutes. Use mild soap and always pat your baby skin don’t rub. Put moisturizer after bath and 2-3 time’s a day. If still it’s drying then use thicker cream Instead of lotion. Dry skin lacks moisture, offer your child plenty to drink.

Suji ( semolina ) kheer for babies.

Semolina is high in protein. Also known as rava, suji. There are many varieties in semolina, fine , medium size and large size. I use fine semolina for my baby. It’s easy to make. Let’s get started –

Ingredients –

1. 2 tablespoon of semolina

2. 1/2 teaspoon of ghee

3. 1 cup milk

4. Sugar to taste

5. Dry fruit powder (optional)

Method – take a pan, heat it on medium flame. Add 1/2 teaspoon of ghee in it, when it becomes warm then Add semolina in it. Always Roast semolina on low flame otherwise it may burn. Stir it continuously till light brown colour. Add 1 teaspoon of dry fruit powder in it, mix it well. Add sugar, stir it then add 1 cup of milk ( you can use water instead of milk). Stir it continuously. When it gets thicker then switch off the flame. Adjust consistency according to your choice by adding water or milk.

Vegetable Daliya ( broken wheat ) for babies.

Broken wheat or daliya is very healthy for babies, kids and adults. It is good source of fiber and low in fat. There are many varieties in broken wheat. large size, medium size, small size broken wheat. I use small size of broken wheat for my baby . It’s easy to digest and very quick recipe. let’s get start –

Ingredients –

1. Broken wheat 1 tablespoon

2. Lentil ( daal ) 1 tablespoon

3. vegetables like carrot, bottle gourd, beetroot, beans, cauliflower, potato.

4. 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seed

5. Pinch of Turmeric

6. Ghee 1 teaspoon

Method – first wash and cut the all vegetables. Take a cooker heat it on medium flame aad 1 teaspoon of ghee in it, when it becomes warm then add 1/2 teaspoon of Cumin seed in it. add pinch of turmeric, Stir it for 30 second. Put all vegetables, daal and broken wheat ( daliya ) in cooker stir it for a minute. Add 2 cup of water in it, close the lid and cook it till 2-3 whistle comes. If your baby is one year old then add pinch of salt in it.

Baby cough & cold home remedies.

Cough & cold is very common in babies, because babies immunity power is less that’s why they get cough & cold easily. I live in Bangalore and The temperature in Bangalore is generally cool because of its elevation of 1000 m above sea level. So here cough& cold is a common problem in babies. Here I am going to share two home made remedies, which I use for my baby when she gets cough & cold. Let’s see –

1. Jaifal( nutmeg) – jaifal is a spice , it has several health benefits that’s why it is given to babies. Take one jaifal grind it on silvatta (stone) in circular motion with one spoon of water and make a fine paste. Take little bit of paste with one spoon of water, mix it well and feed it to baby once or twice a day. It is for 7 month+ babies.

2. Mustard oil – mustard oil is traditionally used for massaging babies. It has many health benefits. it is widely popular in cooler regions as it helps to keep the baby warm. Commonly people heat the oil and when it’s lukewarm then they massage babies. But for cough & cold , take half cup of oil heat it and add two – three cloves of garlic pieces in this oil and cook it till garlic turns Brown in colour. Massage your baby’s chest, back, feet, palm and cover your baby. Night time is good for this because baby can sleep well. Store this oil in a jar. Use this oil when required.
